Visiting the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey

We recently went to see Monster Jam at the Prudential Center located in Newark, New Jersey. Needless to say, if you follow us on Instagram you saw that my family had a great time! We were lucky enough to be viewing the show from one of the suites at the Prudential Center which was quite the amazing experience.

In my never ending quest to fill my children’s childhood with fun and unique adventures during the winter (Mom versus Winter, right?) when I heard that Monster Jam was coming to one of our local venues I knew we had to go. The night was a definite highlight of this month for my kids and niece and nephews. Besides the fact that they thought sitting in a suite was super cool the show was very exciting.

Since we had suite tickets we were able to use the VIP entrance which allowed us meet all of the Monster Jam drivers as they were coming through the hallway. At first I wasn’t sure if it would be okay to go up to them, hence my blurry, trying to be secret while taking a picture of one of the drivers photos. They were all so friendly and it definitely made the experience that much more exciting for the kids. If you can swing a suite ticket I would say it is well worth it. Not only do you get the chance to meet the talent, but you get a special entrance which means you do not need to wait in a long security or ticket line.

Before we left for the Prudential Center I had a few questions regarding parking, food and if we were allowed to bring bags in. I thought I would help you plan your trip to the Prudential Center by answering all of the frequently asked questions about the Prudential Center in Newark.

Where are the best seats in the Prudential Center?
The Prudential Center seating view chart can be found by clicking here. They conveniently show the different layouts of events which is very helpful. I can say there probably isn’t a bad seat in the house unless you’re going to an “end stage event”. For Monster Jam and other shows where the subjects are large you’d be fine in an upper level seat for sure. I can see for a hockey game or concert you might like to be closer, but if you can’t swing a close seat an upper level will still work out well especially since they have big screens hanging from the center of the ceiling you can also watch on.

Prudential Center Parking- where is it and what does it cost?
If you’re like me you tend to stress about parking at events, not only because it can be budget busting but also because it can be downright confusing. I’ll admit I felt overwhelmed reading about the parking options (not a city girl), but after parking at the Prudential Center this past weekend I am happy to report it was actually quite easy to figure out. We opted for the parking garage because it was the least expensive ($25 for this event). We could see the parking lot area right across the street which was another great option, but about $10 more than the garage. I read online that people park a few blocks away to save money in private parking lots. You can read all about the Prudential Center parking by clicking here.

What size bag can I bring in?
The maximum bag size is 12″ x 16″ x 6″. You can expect them to check your bags and have you walk through a metal detector when entering the venue. Read more about all of their policies here.

Am I allowed to bring in food and water?
No, you’re not allowed to bring in any outside food or drink. There are many food and drink options inside the venue which you can read about here.

Where can I see the upcoming events at the Prudential Center?
You can view all of the upcoming events at the Prudential Center on their website by clicking here. Be sure to follow me on Instagram and Facebook where I will be posting any special discounts offered in partnership with the Prudential Center.

I am visiting and have food allergies, what can I expect?
We have a nut allergy so we rarely eat food at events, however I was pleasantly surprised to be given a copy of the ingredients for the french fries and have all of my questions answered when speaking with the staff at one of the concession stands. Beware if you go with a nut allergy though, there was a nut cart in the lobby which wasn’t being used at Monster Jam, but I imagine it’s used at many other events. For safe measure we also carry in clorox wipes and wipe down seats or areas that might be contaminated with nut residues. You can call ahead and get more information and visit the Prudential Center’s ADA guide here.

I hope you found this guide helpful. We can’t wait to attend more events at the Prudential Center and I look forward to sharing them all with you! Do you have any helpful tips to share? Leave them in the comments.
