Introducing a Sippy Cup

IMG_4205

The great sippy cup debate- when should you introduce, what type, water or breastmilk? Those are just a few of the questions that come up when deciding to introduce a sippy cup to your infant. Most research seems to conclude that it is safe to introduce sippy cups around 6 months of age. For an exclusively breastfed baby it can be a bit of a challenge to get them to willingly take the cup and that was surely the case for my son.

We started to introduce the sippy cup around 7 months and he wanted nothing to do with it. At that point he was not eating solids either so we were in no rush and decided to casually try the cup again in another few weeks. We decided to use two of Nuby’s cups, the Natural Touch Bottle to Cup (pictured above) and the Designer Series Grip n Sip (below). Both are available at Babies R Us and the Grip n Sip will be available on Amazon in July.

Our son favors the Natural Touch Bottle to Cup and has since made huge progress and is actually drinking water and breast milk out of the cup! He is two weeks shy of his first birthday and there is hope that we may be able to leave him with the sitter for more than a few hours if needed;)

Both sippy cups are BPA free and are easy to wash. I’m a big fan of that because we all know that mold can hide in so many places in kids cups, but both of these are so easy to keep clean! Both have easy to hold handles that any baby can grab onto.

Head on over to our Instagram for your chance to win the Designer Series Grip n Sip!
