When I was decorating our master bedroom I knew I wanted to keep it simple and minimalistic in keeping with the overall style of our home. 2 years ago we did a big decor overhaul in the master, basically going from mismatched hand me down furniture to turning it into a true farmhouse master bedroom sanctuary. If you know us, you know this is unlike us. We’ve been TV free (with the exception of a few Netflix shows, talking about you The Walking Dead and Scandal) for 6 years this December. I’ve just been really wanting to snuggle up in bed or in our master bedroom sitting area with a good show.

So, we picked up a TV for our bedroom and got started on figuring out where to put our television. The most important aspect of it all was safety. We have two young children and I cringe at the thought of them being near a TV that wasn’t properly secured in some way. We landed on a SANUS mount that is a full motion TV wall mount, which allows you to extend, swivel and tilt. Originally I thought we could get away with a flush mount, but our TV is being placed next to a large window and sun glare is an issue. 1. The first step is to attach the brackets to the television. This should only be done with a screwdriver; do not use a power drill or you risk drilling right through the TV.

2. Installing the wall plate is the next step. Through my online research I discovered the ideal height for a
TV wall mount would make it so that your TV is centered with eye level while you’re sitting down. Because we chose a full motion TV wall mount I wasn’t as concerned with getting exactly right since it will tilt to however we’d like it. I also thought about how we would sometimes be sitting on our couch and also laying in our bed to watch it. So, we picked what seemed like a good distance off the floor and mounted it there. 3. Lastly you hang the TV on the wall plate.
