You’ve heard of spring-cleaning, but have you tried an end of summer cleanout in preparation for Fall? In my opinion, it’s the perfect time to go through your home and take stock of what you need and what you don’t need.

It seems no matter how hard we try to live a minimalist lifestyle we continue to accumulate a lot of things. I am a saver (aka cheap) and so it’s hard for me to say no to things that are offered to me because I LOVE saving money and ‘might’ need it one day. As I’m getting older I’ve come to realize the stress of clutter takes the biggest toll on my sanity.

So, at the end/beginning of each new season, we love to do a big cleanout of our home. We go room-by-room, drawer-by-drawer and get rid of anything we haven’t used in the past few months or that the kids have outgrown.

We make piles in one location of the home that are either donate or garbage. Somehow the garbage pile seems to always be more than our garbage service allows and so we have been using Waste Management’s Bagster® bag as the perfect solution.

Here’s the after picture. We made a really functional space for our boys’ dirt bike gear. Previously their gear was located in several different spots in the garage and it wasn’t efficient at all. Plus, this space turned out pretty cute and the boys are stoked about it!
